Instagram: la une de l'ère mobile.

Instagram is the mobile era’s front page. A computational analysis of both textual and visual elements of 32 French-language media Instagram posts over a decade (n = 82,902) reveals that they mainly use the social network as if it were a daily’s front page or a newscast’s teaser: to promote their stories. In its use by the news media included in this analysis, Instagram is thus more a marketing tool destined to elicit its users’ attention than a journalistic tool used to convey news and information to the public.
