Criteria for Evaluating Open BIG Data
We provide selectively curated, high quality, and peer reviewed published data on our platform. We assess relevance of data to be included on our platform according to the following factors:
Format
Focus on unstructured data e.g., social media, sensor, and government data
Scope
Applicable for research topics relevant within business, economics, and/or the social sciences
Openness
Data and metadata should be openly available and accessible for research purposes
FAIRness
Data should be Findable, Accesible, Interoperable, and Reusable
Relevance for Research
We prioritize data that has been used in at least one FT-50 article
Intrinsic Data Quality
Degree of intrinsic data quality including accuracy, completeness, consistency, and timeliness of data
Availability of Metadata
Availability of rich metadata and conformity with BERD metadata standards
Source
Well-known & credible sources are preferred
Novelty and Research Impact
More recent datasets are preferred, yet often cited datasets remain relevant
